Chapter Thirty-Nine Sixteen Arhats

ps: Thanks to Han Feng Xue Ji, Yun Zai Fei Ben and others for their rewards and support.

****

At this time, the charming young man said: "Fifth brother, how can you talk to my eldest brother like this? Besides, didn't my father ask you to go to the fiefdom after you recover from your injury?"

Li You secretly cursed for being nosy, but said with a smile on his face:

"Third brother, fourth brother, aren't you all here? Of course I'm here to join in the fun."

A young man with a thick waist and a big smile next to him suddenly became displeased. He was just watching a good show on the side, why did he drag him in?

It turned out that these young people were the sons of Li Shimin, namely the prince Li Chengqian, the third son Wu King Li Ke, the fourth son Wei King Li Tai and the Qi King Li You who had just been released after being banned for a month.

It can be said that for now, they are the most likely to take over the throne of Li Shimin.

This is because those who support Li Chengqian and Li Tai are the Guanlong family and the Jiangnan family respectively, and behind Li Ke and Li You there are also many dignitaries from the previous dynasty.

In terms of the forces behind them, except for Li You who is relatively weak, the other three are very competitive.

Therefore, when Li Tai saw that Li Chengqian and others were not dealing with him just now, of course he was happy to sit on the mountain and watch the fight between tigers and tigers.

Now being dragged down by this idiot Li You, he could only add fuel to the fire with a smile on his face:

"Li Tai meets the eldest brother and the third brother."

"Fifth brother, as the saying goes, an elder brother is like a father. Why do you say that about eldest brother? Even though eldest brother has inconvenient legs and feet, doesn't he still have servants?"

At this time, Li Chengqian looked gloomy.

None of these younger brothers is an easy man, and they are all eyeing the position of prince beneath them.

Among them, the most threatening one is Li Tai. Although he usually smiles, he is also the one who likes to cause trouble the most.

Since Li Chengqian's leg became lame, Li Tai relied on Li Shimin's favor to encourage Li Shimin to change the crown prince. The reason was that Li Chengqian's lame leg harmed the image of the royal family.

If it weren't for the Guanlong family standing behind Li Chengqian, his conspiracy might have succeeded.

And on weekdays, Li Tai relied on his talents to recite poems and compose poems to secretly mock Li Chengqian. Therefore, although they were born from the same mother, they were the least able to deal with among so many brothers.

Li Chengqian was not afraid at all of people like Li You who were straightforward. The most terrifying thing was a smiling tiger like Li Tai.

Glancing at Li Tai, Li Chengqian scolded in a deep voice:

"Although I have some inconveniences in my legs and feet, I can still walk on my own. But you, fourth brother, need to be carried by servants to go to court and meetings. You really should lose weight, otherwise the people will still think that our prince is just a corpse, eating meat and fish for the common people."

Unexpectedly, Li Chengqian, who had always been gentle, would dare to mock him, and the fat on Li Tai's face trembled involuntarily.

Seeing that the atmosphere was tense, the handsome and handsome Li Ke smiled slightly and said with a spring breeze on his face:

"This is all our own family's business. We brothers don't want to be embarrassed in front of outsiders. We'd better go in quickly. I think it's almost time."

A cold light flashed in Li Tai's eyes, and he cursed secretly. What he was most jealous of was Li Ke's handsome face. Sometimes he even fantasized that if he was so handsome, the throne would be within his reach. After snorting coldly,

Several people walked into the auction house one after another.

With the arrival of Li Chengqian and others, the noble representatives of various aristocratic families in the venue stood up to greet them. Naturally, several people sat in the front row of the aristocratic families who supported them.

Seeing that there was such a big commotion in the auction house and that even his sons came in person, Li Shimin secretly glared at Yang Fan with some displeasure.

Yang Fan touched his nose without any fear. Anyway, here, the old Li in front of him was just a member of the royal family, not Li Shimin.

Besides, if we don't invite these princes, how can we take advantage of these noble families? These noble families have all bet on these princes.

After everyone sat down, not long after, someone shouted dissatisfied: "What's going on? Are we just sitting here?"

As soon as he finished speaking, a young man trotted towards the front desk. This person was Wang Xuance, who had just left Yang Fan's room.

He shouted loudly to signal everyone to be quiet, and then announced that the treasure appraisal meeting would begin now.

At this time, someone below was dissatisfied and shouted: "We were invited to come, why did the Wannian County magistrate not personally come forward to preside over the treasure appraisal meeting? This is too much. We should be given an explanation."

Suddenly, the quiet auction venue suddenly became noisy again, and everyone was talking about it. Everyone accused Yang Fan of being rude.

Li Ke looked at this scene, the corners of his mouth raised slightly, but he was quite disdainful of these people in his heart. If Yang Fan is really here, do you people really dare to speak like this?

Although he has never met Yang Fan, he admires Yang Fan very much, angrily breaks into the Duke's house and slaps the Duke, and even confronts the prince Li You. These things may seem reckless, but they are not a happy feeling of grudges.

Although in the eyes of Chang'an Xungui, Yang Fan is a stick, a notorious lustful person, there is no one who is not afraid of three points.

And as a prince, as a prince, he looks noble, but in fact he intrigues and flatters every day. Thinking about it makes him feel aggrieved. He might as well be a mallet!

While he was deep in thought, he just listened.

"My young master was summoned to the palace by Your Majesty today. Therefore, I will preside over today's appreciation meeting. If there is any dissatisfaction among those present, the young master will definitely come to apologize after returning from the palace."

Although Wang Xuance is still young, he is an outstanding diplomat. No matter his temperament, ability or eloquence, he is not comparable to ordinary people. He was not panicked by the noise of these people at the scene. Instead, he looked calm and calm, neither humble nor overbearing.

His words were very artistic. Don't you people want to cause trouble for the young master? Okay, the young master has been summoned by His Majesty now. If you have the ability, go and call him back!

When everyone heard this, they didn't dare to find any trouble, and they all changed the topic:

"Didn't you ask us to attend some kind of treasure appraisal meeting? Where is the treasure? Why don't you take it out quickly and let me take a look?"

Seeing that the effect has been achieved, Wang Xuance waved his hand and said: "Since you are so impatient, it is not convenient for me to stop talking about it. There are two groups of fairy objects. You will appreciate the first group first. Come and invite the fairy objects..."

For some unknown reason, the light in the auction house gradually dimmed, and the light on the stage where Wang Xuance stood was like daylight.

When everyone was wondering, they saw a dozen servants each holding a box and placing it gently beside Wang Xuance.

Everyone in the world is curious, craning their necks in anticipation, wanting to see for the first time what kind of treasure this fairy creature is that is rumored to be more and more magical.

Even the prince Li Chengqian held his breath, fearing that a big breath would blow the fairy away.

Wang Xuance casually placed a treasure on the desk in front of him and gently opened the lid.

The whole scene was silent, as if the only thing that could be heard was the pounding heartbeats of everyone.

Everyone stared at the box without blinking, holding their breath.

Such a mysterious treasure, what kind of treasure is it?

When Wang Xuance saw this scene, although his expression remained unchanged, his heart was filled with joy, and his admiration for his young master deepened.

After all, Yang Fan taught him these techniques. When he opened the lid, he should move as slowly as possible, because this would arouse everyone's curiosity.

Holding back the laughter in his heart, he dug inside and took out a glass box more than two feet high. There was something in the box, but it was covered with a piece of red silk.

Everyone was stunned for a moment, and then burst into boos.

"What's the matter with Yang Fan's stick?"

"Are you here to tease us?"

"This is too out of character and too much!"

Everyone expressed their dissatisfaction, but the desire in their eyes was not diminished at all, and was even stronger. A treasure that could be contained in a glass box was not a simple thing.

Wang Xuance ignored everyone's urging, put his hands into the glass box, and took something out with his hands and feet.

After gently placing it on the table, he opened the red silk scarf covering it, and a crystal clear luster flashed through everyone's eyes.

Everyone who was cursing just now suddenly shut up and looked up.

A statue nearly two feet tall, crystal clear and with a faint glow appeared in front of everyone.

Everyone present was a well-informed generation, and when they saw such a large glass statue, they couldn't help but take a breath.

It is rumored that the fairy that fell into the Weishui River is made of glass. It turns out to be true, but what is this statue carved? Many people don't know.

After hearing the words "Amitabha Buddha", Master Rende, the abbot of Caotang Temple, stood up excitedly and uttered the Buddha's name. Later, the abbots of Famen Temple, Huayan Temple and other temples all stood up excitedly, their eyes shining brightly.

In the room, Li Shimin and Cheng Yaojin were also dumbfounded, looking at Yang Fan with puzzled faces:

"Is this also a fairy fished out of the Weishui River?"

Then Li Shimin asked with an angry face: "Why didn't you let me take a look yesterday?"

Yang Fan was a little depressed and thought, if I show them all to you, wouldn’t you take them all away?

But he replied: "These things have been transported here a long time ago and are not in the house."

As for whether Li Shimin believes it or not, that is none of his business.

Li Shimin's eyes were filled with disbelief. If you don't keep such a precious fairy in your house, how can you cheat?

But there was nothing he could do. After all, three big glazed beasts had just cheated him yesterday, so he didn’t feel too distressed, so he asked angrily:

"It's a little far here and I can't see clearly. What is it?"

Yang Fan had no choice but to explain:

"This is the Buddhist statue of Sixteen Arhats with glazed golden bodies..."

Li Shimin suddenly realized that it was no wonder that the abbots of those temples were moved. It turned out to be the Buddhist glazed golden statue of Arhat.

Arhat, also known as Arhat, refers to the person who can eliminate all worries, reach the state of Nirvana, and no longer suffer from the cycle of life and death.

According to legend, in order to ensure that the Buddha Dharma can be passed down to future generations after the Buddha's death, so that all sentient beings can have the opportunity to hear the Dharma, he asked the sixteen Arhats to live in the world forever and spread the Dharma in various places to benefit all sentient beings, practice perfection and guide all sentient beings to do good.

His virtue makes him a saint worthy of being supported by humans and heaven.

After Buddhism was introduced to Huaxia, in the late Tang Dynasty, the Sixteen Arhats became the subject of artists' creations, and later evolved into the Eighteen Arhats.

Therefore, in the Tang Dynasty, Buddhism only spread the legend of the Sixteen Arhats.
