According to historical records in another time and space, the three emperors of the Southern Ming court are actually all the masters who cannot support the wall. They just live by themselves and make a day of stability. In this time and space, the situation is similar. Why are they suddenly active at this time?
It turns out that this time the three southern courts were able to reach an alliance, and the main promoter was Shang Kexi, the actual ruler of the Yong'an court. Behind Shang Kexi, there was also the role of Wu Sangui and the Qing court.
In recent years, Shang Kexi has been maintaining close contact with Wu Sangui of Sichuan, and then through Wu Sangui, he maintained communication with the Qing court. There is only one goal, which is to keep Nanjing and the Qing court in a balance, so that they can survive in the gap between these two major forces. Therefore, although the Qing court repeatedly asked Wu Sangui to attack Nanjing from the west and the south, the two of them just hummed haha, just not moving.
However, after the sixth year of Shunzhi (1649), the situation changed greatly. First of all, there were constant internal accidents in the Qing court. In May and June, the Chinese army launched two battles in Shandong and Nanyang, and both achieved comprehensive victory. It seemed that overnight, the Nanjing government quickly overwhelmed the Qing court. Wu Sangui, who had always been ambiguous, could not sit still. He sent 50,000 troops to Geng Zhongming to reinforce and also issued an alarm to Shang Kexi. Now he could no longer hold his troops, otherwise he would not have a good result after the Qing court was defeated by the Chinese army. At the same time, the Qing court also sent people to Guangzhou to formally make Shang Kexi the King of Guangdong. In the edict, it clearly stated that as long as Shang Kexi sent troops to attack Nanjing, the occupied areas were all classified as Shang Kexi's fiefdoms, and Shang Kexi's descendants could be inherited.
Shang Kexi was of course very clear that if the Qing court was defeated, he could retreat outside the pass, and Wu Sangui could also flee southwest and northwest. He had no way to retreat because there was the sea behind him. If he wanted to retreat, he could only run a boat. However, the Chinese navy was also extremely powerful, and his power had expanded to the Luzon area in the South Ocean. The boat was probably even more miserable. Therefore, he could no longer hesitate and could only send troops to attack Nanjing from the south, cooperate with the Qing court to carry out a north-south attack, and once again brought the situation to a balance.
However, Shang Kexi was just alone, of course he did not dare to launch an attack on the Chinese army alone. He had to pull Shaowu and the Yongli court together. Therefore, Shang Kexi also actively engaged in activities and tried his best to lobby with the other two Southern Ming courts to jointly send troops to attack Nanjing.
Unlike the other two Southern Ming courts who had been living a daze, Shang Kexi has been preparing for battle. On the one hand, it expanded the army and built firearms in the Yong'an court. This is about 120,000 troops under the army. In the province of Guangdong, this is almost the limit of troops. More than 30,000 muskets and more than 200 artillery pieces were built. On the other hand, Shang Kexi also planted detailed works in Shaowu and Yongli dynasties to inquire about the internal situation of these two courts. When they really wanted to join forces with them, they would be more targeted.
Although Shaowu and Yongli dynasties were supported by the Ming Dynasty and regarded themselves as the orthodox Ming Dynasty, the real power of the two courts was not actually in the hands of the emperor, but was decided by the powerful ministers. The person in charge of the Shaowu court was Su Guansheng, but most of the military power was in the hands of Zheng Chenggong. Another general of Su Guansheng, Jin Shenghuan, also had some people; while the person in charge of the Yongli court was Ding Shikui and Qu Shisi, and He Tengjiao, who held military power.
The three people are currently united, because Chen Bangfu, Ma Jixiang and others, a faction that was unsuccessful in the Yongli court, were actively looking for foreign aid, namely Yuzhong of the Daxi Army. At this time, Sun Kewang, Liu Wenxiu, Ai Nengqi and others occupied Yunnan. After several years of rest, the troops also grew to nearly ten. Therefore, Chen Bangfu, Ma Jixiang and others hope to introduce the Daxi Army to enhance their strength and fight with Ding Shikui, Qu Shixiu, He Tengjiao and others.
