Chapter 21 False Alarm

In front of her was an endless patch of mud, surrounded by countless bones. A few jackdaws were hovering above her head, as if waiting for her death.

Xiqian struggled to drag her legs through the mire. Each step seemed to weigh a thousand pounds, but if she didn't lift it up in time, her body would sink rapidly.

Several shrill and old crows sounded. Xiqian looked up at the hovering crows, clearly feeling their excitement. Several crows that landed on the bones not far away stared at her intently, with a look in their eyes.

Greed and evil.

Xiqian felt a chill all over her body. Could it be that she was about to die? These crows seemed ready to eat her flesh bite by bite at any time.

Looking at the rotting corpses around her, Xiqian's stomach churned. She didn't want to feel so disgusting after death, so she trudged through the mud with all her strength, while the crows screamed "Yeah~ Yeah~" above her head, as if they were mocking.

Her futility.

Suddenly a strong wind blew through, and the stench that filled the sky dissipated. Xiqian found herself in a desert, and the sun was scorching the earth like a furnace. She felt that it was getting hotter and hotter, and her throat was so dry that she could not even make a sound.

Suddenly there was a hissing sound behind her. Xi Qian turned around and saw a giant spotted python spitting messages at her, followed by countless small green and red snakes.

Xiqian stood up and wanted to run away, but worries kept coming from all directions, and the snakes were slowly approaching. She could already feel their breath, so cold and ruthless, and the temperature that was just as hot as a furnace suddenly became bone-chilling.

Xiqian closed her eyes and gave up resistance, but after a long time, the surroundings became silent. She slowly opened her eyes, and what she saw was a sea. A trace of light appeared on the sea level, and a red sun gradually jumped out and illuminated

covered the entire sea surface.

Xiqian looked at the scene in front of her happily, and suddenly found Yuwen Haoxuan sitting quietly beside her. She wanted to scream, but she couldn't make a sound, and her body seemed to be frozen.

, unable to move.

Yuwen Haoxuan stood up without looking at her, and walked straight into the sea. The water gradually covered his head. Xi Qian watched him disappear into the sea, but could do nothing.

"Haoxuan!" A sharp cry woke up Xue Chun, who was sleeping lightly beside the bed.

"Princess, you are awake. Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something? I will ask someone to prepare it."

"Where am I?" Xi Qian looked at Xuechun blankly, with large beads of sweat on her forehead.

Xue Chun hurriedly took the towel and wiped it for her, "Princess, what's wrong with you? This is your bedroom! You were so frightened last night that you fainted. The doctor said you should have a good rest for a few days."

"Haoxuan, where is Haoxuan? Where is he?" Xi Qian suddenly remembered the scene before she fainted, her eyes turned red, and she clutched Xuechun's wrist tightly.

Xuechun was pinched so hard by her that she said with tears in her eyes, "The emperor is fine in the Zhangqing Palace and has not been hurt at all."

"I don't believe it, are you lying to me? I clearly heard that he was hit by a hidden weapon, tell me where he is? I want to go see him." Xi Qian could no longer control her body, and her hands kept shaking.

, struggled and rolled down the bed.

Fantao ran in from outside and helped her back to bed with Xuechun.

"Jieyu, please don't be like this. The emperor is really kind. Last night, the secret guards blocked the hidden weapon for the emperor. Now the emperor is investigating the assassins last night in the Zhangqing Palace. But unfortunately, those assassins committed suicide."

"Secret guard? What secret guard?" Xi Qian asked after calming down a little.

"They are the people who are secretly protecting the emperor. No one knew that there were secret guards around the emperor before. This time, the situation was critical, and the secret guards were forced to show up."

Xi Qian closed her eyes and leaned on the bedside. Thinking of the assassination at the night banquet, she felt full of doubts. If the target of those assassins was Yuwen Haoxuan, why was the first stab at her? There was also such a secret around the emperor.

The secret guard must be of great use in the future, but he was lured out so easily.

Xiqian felt regretful and slammed the edge of the bed. If she hadn't been so reckless, things would not have ended up like this.

Fantao and Xuechun looked at each other, wondering why she suddenly lost her temper.

Xuechun stepped forward cautiously, took her hand and said, "Princess, why are you angry? Did I do something wrong?"

Xi Qian opened her eyes, smiled and brushed Xuechun's temples, "No, you didn't do anything wrong, I was angry with myself."

"Angry with yourself? Did the princess do something wrong?"

Looking at Xue Chun's real face, Xi Qian couldn't help but shed tears. Fan Tao quickly pulled Xue Chun aside and said, "Princess must be hungry now. Go and get some food."

Xue Chun pouted and walked out, turning back step by step. Fan Tao sat on the edge of the bed and put another pillow behind Xi Xian's back. She said as if unintentionally, "Everyone can see Jie Yu's affection for the emperor."

Come on, you risk your own life to protect the emperor, I am afraid no one in this palace can do it."

Xi Qian lowered her eyelashes and sighed quietly, "It's a pity that if someone took advantage of her, it would be a waste of time."

Fantao bit her lip, said nothing, and just handed her a cup of hot tea.

Xi Qian held the teacup in her hands and watched the heat slowly build up. She suddenly laughed a few times. The charcoal fire in the room was obviously very warm, but Fantao felt chilly.

"Actually, I have never had any great ambitions. I just want to live a stable life, but those people, both overt and covert, won't let me do it! Fan Tao, what do you think I should do?"

Fan Tao turned around to look at Xi Xi, and her body suddenly became stiff. She had never seen this kind of look in Xi Xi's body before, as if she could pierce through everything. In her image, Xi Xi had always been a person with a touch of gentleness.

A stubborn woman, but now Xiqiao has become a bit strange.

"What is Jieyu talking about? I can't understand you." Fan Tao avoided her gaze unnaturally.

Xiqian looked at her with a chuckle, "No, you understand. You don't need to answer right away. I have the patience to wait. If you figure it out one day, you can tell me at any time."

Fan Tao opened her mouth slightly, almost blurting out some words, but seemed to suddenly think of something, and finally lowered her head.

"The meal is here!" Xuechunren's voice came first before he entered the house.

Fan Tao hurriedly opened the door curtain, and Xue Chun rushed in with a steaming breakfast in his hand.

"Princess, look, this is the Green Lotus and Hundred Dates porridge that I am best at."

Xuechun brought the porridge bowl directly to the bed. Xiqian smelled it and said, "The fragrance of these lotus leaves is really strong!"

Xuechun chuckled and said in her ear, "I picked them from Mr. Xia's lotus pond when I was in Xia Mansion. There are many more."

"You are so courageous. Mr. Xia's most precious treasure is his pond lotus." After Xi Xian pretended to be angry at her, the two of them burst into laughter.

Fan Tao secretly wiped the sweat from her palms and looked at Xi Qian with a playful face. If the words she just said were not engraved in her heart, she would really doubt that she was dreaming.
