One of Lao Gao's Essays on the Three Kingdoms (Why Liu Biao Accepted Liu Bei)
Lao Gao reads one of the essays on the Three Kingdoms [Why did Liu Biao accept Liu Bei]
I was just thinking that when Liu Bei went to Liu Biao, Cai Mao was weighing the pros and cons. He had already made it very clear why Liu Biao still accepted Liu Bei. Is it really Sun Qian's smooth tongue? Or maybe it was Liu Biao's good reputation.
I can't see enough of it.
Liu Biao placed Liu Bei in Xinye. Where is Xinye? In fact, after the Battle of Wancheng in Nanyang County, Cao Cao had already occupied half of Nanyang County.
Let’s look at the thirty-fifth chapter again: Shan Fu’s new wild encounter with his new master.[
'However, it is said that Cao Cao returned to Xudu from Jizhou and often wanted to take Jingzhou. He specially sent Cao Ren and Li Dian, together with the surrendered generals Lu Kuang and Lu Xiang, to lead 30,000 troops to garrison Fancheng and eye Jingxiang to see what was true.'
This is the original story of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The key lies in Fancheng. Where is Fancheng?
When we say Xiangfan now, we actually mean that Xiangyang and Fancheng are integrated. Open the map of the Three Kingdoms, Xiangyang is on the south bank of the Han River, and Fancheng is on the north bank of the Han River. The two cities are across the river.
According to the meaning in the book, Fancheng has been occupied by Cao Cao.
And where is Xinye? To the north of Fancheng and south of Wancheng, it is actually surrounded by Cao Cao's forces. It can be said that Xinye is an enclave of Jingzhou Liu Biao's forces in Nanyang County.
Liu Biao actually placed Liu Bei under heavy siege by Cao Cao's army.
Of course, Cao Cao may not have captured Fancheng in the sixth year of Jian'an, but at that time Cao Cao's forces had already captured Wancheng and directed his troops at Jingxiang.
If Cao Cao goes south to Jingzhou and crosses the river to attack Xiangyang at night, Xiangyang is likely to be attacked by surprise. In this case, a buffer force is needed to station in Nanyang.
This buffer force turned out to be Zhang Xiu, which was one of the reasons why Liu Biao finally accepted Zhang Xiu's occupation of Nanyang. Liu Biao used Zhang Xiu as a buffer zone between him and Cao Cao. Just like Lao Gao described in "The Heroes of the World", Yang Yuanqing specifically left Dou Jiande behind. As a buffer between the Sui Dynasty and Li Mi.
In the fourth year of Jian'an, Zhang Xiu was destroyed, Cao Jun set his sights on Jingzhou, and Liu Biao's buffering power disappeared.
At this time, Liu Biao was in urgent need of a new buffer force. In the sixth year of Jian'an, Liu Bei came to Jingzhou, which just met Liu Biao's need.
If Cao Cao goes south, will he attack Liu Bei or Liu Biao first?
Facts have proved that Cao Ren garrisoned in Fancheng and did not attack Xiangyang on the other side. Instead, he went north to attack Liu Bei in the new field. This proved that Liu Biao's strategy was completely successful.
Although Liu Bei could not withstand the offensive of Cao Cao's army, he at least served as an early warning beacon, which could buy Jingzhou time to deploy its troops and generals.
Although Cai Mao was quite visionary, he could not match Liu Biao's foresight. As soon as Liu Bei appeared, Liu Biao immediately thought of Liu Bei's buffering effect. This is why Liu Biao tolerated Liu Bei as a tycoon again and again.
Lao Luo did not write these things carefully. After all, the space is limited, so readers need to taste them carefully. In Lao Gao's new book Three Kingdoms, these things will be written.
