12. Injured

Fang Minghao sat in the driver's seat with a sullen expression. The front axle of the Alfa he was driving rested on a rock and broke. He seemed to have been injured as well, with waves of heartbreaking pain coming from the tibia of his left lower leg.

He frowned in pain, with a few beads of sweat on his face, and looked longingly at the road, hoping that a vehicle would pass by. This was a very remote road, but in fact there was a small town not far ahead.

The architecture of the town has a strong Austrian style. Standing on the road on the top of the mountain, you can see the blue roofs and the red round spire of the town church that mixes Gothic and Baroque architectural styles.

All this will remind people that this place was under the rule of the Austro-Hungarian Empire for a long time.

Ten minutes later, a car finally drove over. Fang Minghao stood on the ground with one foot, supported the car body with one hand, and waved with difficulty. An old red Fiat convertible stopped, and the driver

She is a young girl with curly black hair and wearing a pair of large sunglasses. Next to her sits a handsome young man with neatly tidied short brown hair and wearing a decent black suit.

"What's wrong with you?" the young man asked as he got out of the car.

"I seem to be injured. Can you send me to the small town ahead?" Fang Minghao frowned and said in halting Italian.

"Don't move, you may be really injured. Let me check you out!" The girl jumped out of the car and stopped Fang Minghao's movements.

"Are you studying to be a doctor?" Fang Minghao asked when he saw the girl skillfully checking the injury on his leg. As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly felt a sharp pain and couldn't help but scream.

"I'm not a doctor, but I'm sure your bones are broken!" the girl said. "Let's send you to a small town. My grandfather opened a clinic there." After that, she turned back to the young man and said.

: "Recadi, please help me find some branches."

The young man seemed very reluctant, but he still followed the instructions and picked up a few branches from the roadside.

"May I have your name?"

"Call me Sophie, Sophie Lombardina." Sophie said. She saw Recardi coming back with a few branches, so she asked: "Do you have a knife with you?"

"What are you doing with the knife? Oh, making a splint. Is my leg really broken?" Fang Minghao said.

"I think so."

"There is a backpack on the back seat of the car with a knife and a first aid kit in it."

Sophie took out a military backpack from the back seat, took out a multi-purpose saber from it, and took out bandages from the first aid kit. Reccardo also came over, and the two of them were busy cutting out several clamping sticks with their knives.

"Are you a soldier?" Sophie asked as she tied a bandage on him.

"Well, yes."

"Then you are Chinese."

"Yes, how did you know."

"There have been so many Chinese people coming to Italy recently, so there's no need to guess." Sophie said, "Okay, let's help you get to our car."

With the support of Recardi and Sophie, Fang Minghao jumped with his right foot and moved to the back seat of Sophie's car, "Do you want to get something?"

"There's a briefcase in the front seat of the car, and that backpack, and that's it."

Meraz is a very German name, and the town is not big. Mr. Lombard's clinic is located not far from the western intersection of the town. It is a two-story building with a blue tile roof, and the first floor faces outwards.

A corridor supported by four Baroque columns stretched out. There was a small garden on the east side of the building, in which stood several muddy yellow stone statues.

Sophie and the others took Fang Minghao to the clinic and left. Doctor Lombard carefully examined his injury and determined that the tibia of his left leg was fractured and needed to be re-fixed with a plaster.

"Do you have a phone number?" Fang Minghao said after Mr. Lombard finished treating his injuries.

"There is one, but it's upstairs. What do you want?" Doctor Lombard is not tall. He is over sixty years old, with a ruddy complexion and a loud voice when he speaks. However, his hair has turned gray and there are some light spots on his face.

Light age spots.

"This is a phone call. Please tell them that I am injured and cannot rush back." Fang Minghao asked for a piece of white paper and wrote a phone address on it with a pencil. He needed to notify the Naval Shipbuilding Bureau of the situation.

Colonel Sigmund.

"Military Representative Office of the United Shipyards in Trieste, so you are a soldier. I will call them right away." Mr. Lombardy said, "I heard that you are helping us. Aren't the Chinese very backward?"

He muttered as he went upstairs.

After a while, Mr. Lombard came down from upstairs, his expression became much more respectful, "Ah, sir, I have already made the call, and they said they will send someone over soon. I didn't know that you were a very distinguished guest. Really?"

Sorry, are you hungry? I will tell them to prepare dinner for you."

It was getting dark. When he said this, Fang Minghao really felt hungry, so he said, "I'll trouble you."

After a while, the only two policemen in the town came over. They asked some questions, and then left, saying that they wanted to help Fang Minghao get the car back first. Before leaving, they told Mr. Lombard to take care of him.

Hello Fang Minghao, the Ministry of National Defense will send someone over soon.

Dr. Lombard asked someone to set up a table beside Fang Minghao's bed, and then brought the food. He wanted to have dinner with Fang Minghao. The food was very simple, with a plate of pastrami and a plate of fried vegetables, and the other

Soup and white rice. Mr. Lombard took two glasses and poured half a glass of red wine into them. "Drink some red wine. This will help you recover from your injury."

Fang Minghao nodded.

Mr. Lombard sat opposite him, took a sip of wine, and then said: "You are an officer?"

"Yes, he is a naval officer." Fang Minghao said.

"Oh, why are there so many Chinese officials recently? Is Italy going to war again? Are they following you to fight against the British?" Mr. Lombard said.

"Not necessarily. In peacetime, every country also needs to organize its armaments and national defense, and at the same time formulate how to deal with various theoretical threats." Fang Minghao said.

"Perhaps there is really going to be a war. I once participated in the European War as a military doctor. The situation now is much like what it was before the European War. I can feel it." Mr. Lombardy said, "Our regiment was destroyed in the Alps.

The Austrians were defeated and many people died. I really don’t want to see that kind of scene again.”

"Sometimes this kind of thing is not something that one person can control. For example, the war we are currently engaged in. Although the British are being defeated, in fact they started the war first." Fang Minghao said, "Before the war,

If they could know the current result, they would definitely choose to compromise. But most of the time, those self-righteous politicians do not know how to compromise and negotiate at all, but choose war. They are extremely energetic and always superstitious about power."

"Yes, it was exactly this situation. Hitler won the whole of Austria and the Sudetenland by showing off his force," Mr. Lombard said, "and not a single shot was fired in the whole process. They did this precisely in the

Encouraging the use of force will sooner or later lead to a war."
