Chapter 67 Imperial Examination

On October 25, the fifty-second year of the Qin Dynasty, Hu Hai, the second emperor of the Qin Dynasty, formally issued an edict to the world in front of the Qishan Academy that had just been completed in Yongcheng, abolishing the method of recommendation for officials currently implemented in the Qin Dynasty, and conducting imperial examinations to select officials.

In five years' time, the imperial examination will be held for the first time in the history of the Qin Dynasty or the land of China. Starting from the imperial examination in five years' time, all officials in the Qin Dynasty will pass the imperial examination.

Officers will be awarded based on merit selection.

An hour after Hu Hai, the second emperor of the Qin Dynasty who was far away in Yongcheng, issued this simple edict, the three provinces and six ministries of the Qin Dynasty jointly signed it and issued it to all counties in the world. There was nothing else in this official document signed by the three provinces and six ministries.

A detailed explanation of various terms and rules of the Daqin Imperial Examination.

These explanations include the age limit for the imperial examination, moral restrictions, the rules and rewards for the initial, re-examination and final examination, the principles for awarding officials, the method of issuing the imperial examination questions, and a series of other things involving all aspects.

For being able to come up with such a basically flawless imperial examination rules and regulations in just over twenty days, His Majesty Hu Hai, the second emperor of the Qin Dynasty, still deserves a lot of credit.

Immediately after this writing, the Ministry of Rites and the Ministry of Personnel of the Qin Dynasty wrote articles for all counties in the Qin Dynasty almost at the same time.

The text of the Ministry of Rites stipulates in detail the nine required reading teaching plans compiled by the Royal Academy. The nine teaching plans continue the six arts of Zhou Zhi, etiquette, music, archery, imperial control, calligraphy, and numeracy, but add new virtues to these six arts.

Chapter, Loyalty to the Emperor Chapter and Historical Records Chapter.

Historically known as Jiu Zhang!

In addition to the nine teaching plans for the imperial examination, the Ministry of Rites also issued the "Qin Yu Enlightenment Chapter" for the enlightenment of young children, that is, for primary education. This "Qin Language Enlightenment Chapter" was spent by Kong Yu and a group of deans of the Royal Academy.

It took nearly ten months to compile.

At the same time, the Ministry of Rites also stipulates the age at which children in the Qin Dynasty should receive primary education, ranging from six to ten years old. After the age of ten, until children and adults, they will all practice Nine Chapters.

The practice of the Nine Chapter Teaching Plan starts from the age of ten until the coming of age ceremony. This means that they can formally register with the Rites Department of the Chief Secretary of each county to participate in the imperial examination held by Da Qin, and then the officials in charge of education in each county's Chief Secretary will directly

Register with the Ministry of Rites and receive proof of identity. Go to Xianyang to participate in the imperial examination.

The Ministry of Rites clearly stipulated that all test questions in the imperial examinations of the Qin Dynasty would be based on the knowledge discussed in the nine chapters. In other words, if you want to be promoted to an official, you must familiarize yourself with these nine teaching plans compiled by the Royal Academy.

Only then can you have the opportunity to leap over the dragon gate.

The Ministry of Personnel issued a document to formally notify all officials in the world, starting from October 25th in the second year of the Second World War. The Yushitai, the Ministry of Personnel, and the Zongzheng Mansion will conduct a small exam for all officials in the world every three years and a major exam every five years.

.

It's just that this "examination" is not an imperial examination, but a test that targets officials' administrative abilities and the reputation of the people.

This examination involves all officials from the central to the local government, including the chief officials of the three provinces and six ministries, ministers, ministers, and down to the heads of rural pavilions who are not worthy of rank. All are within the scope of this examination.

This is not the end!

On October 28, the fifty-second year of the Great Qin calendar, Kong Kun, the Chancellor of the Royal Academy of Great Qin, and the Chancellors of each branch, and Wei Liao, the Chancellor of the Royal Military Academy of Great Qin, explained the Royal Academy and its branches to the world’s scholars in the form of a proclamation.

Ways and means of recruiting students.

The Royal Academy and the Royal Military Academy are two mutually exclusive entities. The Royal Academy mainly caters to students who are interested in serving as officials. The Royal Military Academy mainly recruits students who want to join the military.

Two years later, the Royal Academy began to accept admission from students from all counties. Of course, not everyone can enter the Royal Academy. After studying in each county academy for three years, teenagers over the age of 13 will take the examination conducted by the Royal Academy and pass

Those selected can enter the Royal Academy to continue their studies.

Of course, entering the Royal Academy does not mean that you will be settled once and for all. There are exams every two years, and those who fail will return to the county schools. Of course, if you have already had a coming-of-age ceremony, it is not impossible to enter the Royal Academy. The premise is

You can pass the examination held by the Royal Academy specifically for adult men. After entering the Royal Academy, you will also take the examination every two years. If you fail, you will go back and forth.

Of course, whether you are a student from the Royal Academy or a school in each county, you can register for the imperial examination as long as you are of age. However, there are naturally differences between the Royal Academy of Qin and the schools in each county, both in structure and teaching.

The Royal Military Academy mainly provides talents for the Qin army, including infantry generals, cavalry generals, staff generals and navy generals.

In Hu Hai's vision, Great Qin's future generals should not only be highly skilled in martial arts, but also literate and able to understand strategies. Instead of just needing generals who can charge into battle.

This is what the Royal Military Academy really needs to achieve.

After all, wars often involve large armies of tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands fighting. Individual bravery cannot change the outcome of a war. Instead, there is a greater need for the strategies of the generals who lead the troops.

As for the School of Engineering led by Mohism, the School of Philosophy led by Taoists, the School of Medicine led by physicians, and the Miscellaneous School led by alchemists and miscellaneous scholars, they mainly correspond to students who are interested in these things.

Students entering these colleges cannot take the imperial examination, but each branch has given out conditions that make everyone excited. That is, as long as they make achievements in research, the emperor will grant them a rank equivalent to that of an official. If the merit is great enough, it may even be possible.

Knighted.

After reforming the official system and abolishing the distinction based on titles, it is foreseeable that fewer and fewer people in Great Qin will be able to hold titles in the future. Indeed, because Hu Hai is considering abolishing the hereditary and non-transferable system of titles in Great Qin.

Granting all walks of life the same rank as officials and gentry, and enjoying the imperial salary. The main purpose of Hu Hai's actions was naturally not to let all scholars squeeze into the single-plank bridge of the imperial examination and regard becoming an official in the imperial examination as the only way to change their background.

What's more, only with the comprehensive development of science and engineering, chemistry, literature, philosophy and other disciplines can a nation be strong and the empire maintain its long-term prosperity.

One stone stirs up a thousand waves!

A thousand layers of waves is not enough, at least ten thousand layers of waves, hundreds of millions of waves!

Through the channels of Longwei Mansion, in just ten days, the announcement about the imperial examination system for the appointment of officials, the Royal Academy, and the Royal Military Academy spread throughout the Qin Dynasty, including the three remote counties of South Vietnam, central Fujian, Liaodong and western Liaoning counties.

.

When the announcement documents stamped with the emperor's seal appeared in various counties and counties, countless scholars from poor backgrounds howled for it. They were crying with excitement. They no longer had to sell themselves into the world for an official position.

Home.

Countless people rushed to tell each other about it, and they, or their descendants, finally had the opportunity to change the fate of their families, and no longer could only be the head of Guizhou forever.
