Part 1: The Sorrow of Green

This is a short article I wrote when I was crazy about playing StarCraft. It was also published on the Computer Business Information Game Edition, but that was already a long time ago, probably in 1999...

This time when I was sorting things out, I accidentally found out that it was a handwritten manuscript. I asked a friend to help me type it up and send it to everyone to see. The writing is very general. The background is the interstellar game, and you can also refer to the movie Starship Troopers. I don’t mean anything else. I have always done it since I was in school. I am so busy that I no longer have the time or mood to play games. I miss the old days of gaming. It seems that every game released at that time is a classic. I can play through it with enthusiasm or study it thoroughly, StarCraft, Thor, Fairy Sword, Jin Yong's Heroes, etc. are all familiar names that make people go crazy and stay up late. I really miss them! Today's games are like fast food culture, focusing on packaging and promotion. Although the animation effects are lifelike and the game graphics are exquisite It's beautiful, but I just can't find the feeling of the previous games...

Maybe it’s because the proliferation of games has made us impetuous, or maybe it’s because we’re really old and think too much about real things, and we no longer have that leisurely and relaxing game mood...

Not much to say, in short, I would like to write this document to friends who love StarCraft but also don’t have time to play the game to their heart’s content!

text:

I am a curious zergling (the lowest offensive unit of the Zerg, whose shape is based on the Zerg in Starship Troopers). I have felt different from other zerglings since I was a child. From birth to growing up as a warrior, everything around me feels fresh. , want to ask why, want to understand, want to feel.

Today is the first day we report to the Arno space station: the huge base is constantly secreting mucus to strengthen the ground, extending outwards, the drones are constantly mining ores and natural gas, and several defensive turrets are in the process of laying eggs... …

On the way where the lord (the house we are talking about increases the population and can be upgraded to transport troops and float in the air) transported us here, we heard the lord introduce the Arno Space Station. This space station is located on the right side of Pluto, which is our Zerg. The main battlefield of the battle with the human race. Over the years, there has only been victory or defeat. No one can gain complete initiative and control. However, the war is still going on, so one can imagine the strategic significance of the Arno Space Station. Who controls it? With it, you can advance, attack, retreat or defend. If you advance, you can add troops to Pluto at any time. If you retreat, you can immediately organize the first line of defense, thus affecting the situation of the battle.

The lord also told us that the human race also established a secret sub-base in this space station. Our troops had several small-scale conflicts with their outbound reconnaissance teams, but our scouts never found their sub-base. The purpose of this reinforcement is to strengthen the defense of our sub-base, find out where the enemy base is, and destroy it.

Out of curiosity, I not only asked: "Are they human race really terrible? Why can't we share resources with them instead of going to war?"

"You are just the lowest zergling. Shut your mouth. Your mission is to obey." The lord reprimanded sternly.

I stuck out my tongue, turned around and whispered the question again to our captain. The captain's face was blank at first, then he waved his front paws like sharp knives and said, "Boy, why are you different from others?" Well, I'm thinking of all kinds of random things in my mind. All you need to know is that we can bite the enemy's throat with our sharp teeth and claw open the enemy's chest with our sharp front claws. Do you understand?"

At this time, I really want to understand what human society is and how human life is. Shouldn’t we really use our brains and ask why? Or are they low-level zerglings simply incapable of thinking? In my resentful heart, I

It seems that he has forgotten that he is just a zergling, one of them, the lowest zergling.

"Boy, why are you in a daze? Gather quickly." A hasty voice suddenly brought my thoughts back to reality. "Ah, we gathered right after we arrived. What happened?"

"I heard that the lord who was out exploring found a human patrol. Don't ask so many questions and follow him quickly." Soon we gathered together. The team of twelve people, under the leadership of the captain, quickly rushed to the scene of the accident.

go.

Under the lord's induction, we came to an open space surrounded by some abandoned houses and supply depots. Under the lord's order, our team was divided into two groups of six people. The first group got into the central open space.

In the concrete, the second team hid in the surrounding ruins and set up an ambush circle. I was placed on the left side of the entrance to the ruins. My mission was to prevent the enemy from escaping and pursue them.

Not long after, a group of people gradually approached from the distance. It turned out to be human marines (according to the translation on earth, they should be called marines, human spearmen). There were ten people in total, and they were moving forward in an exploratory way. It was really ridiculous.

, Weak humans have no power at all and can only hide in round armor. It is said that they cannot even breathe on this planet and rely entirely on the automatic oxygen circulation device in the armor to maintain various activities and fight.

And the simulated sensory system on the surface is used to identify smells and analyze touch. Their weapon is the cylinder held in their hands, which is not ridiculous at all. According to the lord, this is the new generation of m36 self-guided infantry gun.

, specially designed for marine, with 200 rounds per second. The bullets are all gas-titanium warheads, which can easily penetrate the steel plate and the outer shell that we think is hard. Looking at the black barrel, I can't help but feel a chill in my heart.

.

As the team approached, I found that behind the eight marines there was another one wearing white armor, without any weapons in his hands, and there was a red cross logo printed on the armor on his left arm. I know, these are called medics, and they are on the battlefield.

Usually, injured marines are dealt with and treated immediately so that they can regain their fighting strength in the shortest possible time, thereby turning defeat into victory and turning the tide of the battle.

They are usually held by women, which is another aspect of human beings that makes me curious. How are they divided into men and women, and what kind of stupid love is required to reproduce the next generation? This is really a mystery to us who are genderless.

Incredible.

In the fluctuation of my thoughts, she happened to pass by me. Her long golden hair looked like the guardian star of her hometown, her small nose, and her red lips were so cute, but I felt a trace of fear and fear in her clear eyes.

Trembling…

The attack began, and the four marines in front quickly fell to the claws. They didn't even have time to shout and fear. The six marines behind them began to fight back, pulling the triggers as they retreated.

Thousands of bullets were sprayed at my middle companion at the same time. We zerglings never dodge, we just use the amazing speed to approach the enemy, and then use our claws to give the final blow, so my four companions are constantly charging.

Zhong had already fallen to the ground, with only the last twitch left.

But they underestimated us. When I and five other companions rushed out from both sides, they were completely desperate. Blood filled the air, and their bodies were trembling in the blood. When I pulled out the sharp claws from the chest of the last marine

When I saw him, he looked at the medical soldier with sad eyes and said two words "Heidi".

"Heidi, is that her name? I heard that human beings have names. It sounds like Heidi is really a beautiful name." I looked at Heidi, saw her eyes, and saw something flowing out of there.

, what is that? Is it water?

Her expression was no longer nervous and fearful, but her face was just watery and her eyes were sad.

I looked around. It was miserable. It was really miserable. We also paid a heavy price and lost ten comrades. However, ten zerglings were exchanged for the lives of ten marines. This can be called a miracle in an interstellar battle.

Although I didn’t need this miracle. The other remaining companion and I slowly approached Heidi. Heidi did not retreat and run away, but just looked at the last marine quietly. I felt a sudden surge in my heart for no reason.

Sour, what is going on? I have never felt this way before, what is it? Before I could think about it, my companion had already started to act.

Watching the sharp claw in Heidi's eyes grow from small to large, I also launched an attack. The claw passed through the chest without any hindrance. Heidi's face was full of surprise and confusion. I slowly stepped out of my companion's body.

He retracted his sharp claws. Looking at his blank expression, I wasn't sad, but I felt angry, because I couldn't feel any emotion from his expression, even resentment and incomprehension, I'm afraid I couldn't even feel it at the last moment of his death.

I will think about why I attacked him. There is just a blank in my thinking, a pitiful blank. I am angry, is this zergling, a zergling without thoughts? I don’t want it, I want to get rid of it, I want to understand, I want to feel

.To understand what the water-like thing in Heidi's eyes is, to feel the infinite sadness between her and that marine...

Heidi has calmed down, silently accepting the message I sent to her through the external sense system, "I want to join you, and I long for mutual understanding and sincerity." Seeing Heidi's expression full of confusion and doubt,

I can think of the reason why she was puzzled, that is, how could a low-level zergling have such a strange idea? This made me feel more urgent to join them. I repeated the message again.

After a while, a very calm moment, Heidi walked towards me. She put her hands on my chest, and a warm current flowed in and slowly reached my whole body. The scars on my body began to stop bleeding, shrink and heal. This is

Her ability? It's amazing. Is this what humans call help? In the past, injuries have always been treated with your own tongue and saliva. Even if it was an inaccessible place behind your back, no one would help you.

For the first time in my life, I was happy. Heidi was still treating me silently. She was so close to me, I couldn't help but want to touch her, if I had hands.

What also moved me was that she obviously did not turn off the smell identification system. Because I exuded a strong smell. Although this is a sign of our Zerg’s identity and level, this smell is absolutely incomprehensible to humans.

Endurable.

But Heidi didn't seem to feel anything, and her nose didn't even wrinkle. The injury healed quickly, and now my whole body is full of energy. Heidi looked up at me with a smile on her face. Her warm eyes conveyed friendliness.

I knew she had accepted me. Then she pulled me and left without looking back.

But I saw something like water in her eyes. I conveyed my apology and comfort to her. I thought that marine must be the object of her "love". Although I don't know what this object means to her.

, but I knew she was sad. But she still looked at me with a smile, and her expression was full of kindness.

I was happy for the second time in my life. We didn't talk along the way. I was satisfied just looking at her smile. And she had that faint and warm smile from beginning to end, which made me feel like I was bathing in spring breeze. I really hope that the road will always go like this.

Go down. Unfortunately, the road stops ahead, and a large pile of steel ruins blocks the way.

But Heidi didn't stop. When I got to the middle of the ruins, I discovered that there was a tunnel inside that could allow large base vehicles to pass through. Did Heidi want to take me to their base? I didn't want to think too much. When I walked out of the tunnel, I saw a wide open space in front of me.

I saw the silver-gray main base standing in the center under the defense of steel. It was surrounded by engineer robots coming and going in charge of production and construction. There were several bunkers and defensive turrets under construction on the side. From time to time, patrols walked by in twos and threes.

, it seems that their base has just been built and there is no defense yet. No wonder it is located in such a hidden place, even our scouts cannot find it.

Suddenly there was a loud alarm all around, and I thought they had discovered me. The patrols around me also approached me with guns in hand. Heidi left me and ran towards them quickly. I was not worried at all, and stayed still and closed my eyes.

Eyes, thinking about Heidi explaining to them my joining. The first Zerg to join the Star Alliance in history, a different zergling, a zergling with its own thinking. I listened attentively with my ears, and I had to listen carefully.

I heard the applause that welcomed me to join. I heard the roar of the m36. When I opened my eyes, my body had been pierced by thousands of titanium warheads. It felt so cold, and green blood flowed.

One place. I raised my eyes to look at Heidi. She no longer smiled. There was frightening hatred in her eyes, endless hatred...

"Why?" I asked myself when I fell. It's impossible for me to know the answer. Maybe as a zergling, I really shouldn't think about it and ask why, right?

Blood, green blood, flowed from my body... I laughed, if this was a laugh!

I was also sad at the same time. Not because of Heidi's deception, nor because of the disappearance of my life, but because of this base. I said that we identify each other's location by smell, and they don't know that the green smell of blood is stronger than ours.

The body odor will spread faster and further. I believe that at this time, my base and my kind, a hundred kilometers away, should have sensed this smell, this smell of life. In less than 5 minutes, this place will become a sea of insects.

The slaughterhouse of claws and venom. They, including Heidi, will turn into a pile of rotten flesh in the moment of fear. Green blood, green sorrow...
