Wang Anshi would ride on his donkey from his home to Dinglin Temple every day after eating. He would arrive there every day.
Wang Anshi's temperament was like this. He couldn't bear to sit still. He would walk when he had to lie down. He always wanted to find something to do from time to time and refused to let himself relax.
At that time, every time Wang Anshi's official career was not going well, he would quarrel with the officials and want to go into seclusion. On the day when he paid homage to the prime minister, he wrote a poem, "Shuangyun, Snow Bamboo, Zhongshan Temple, Returning to the Old Man to Live in Residence for the rest of his life."
So what if we really go into seclusion now?
Wang Anshi rode a donkey into the mountains, and everywhere he looked he saw clean mountain flowers and birds flying with the white clouds.
Zhongshan is still the same as before.
But during the nine years of being in power, everything and everyone was still hanging in front of us day and night. They all said they wanted to let go, but when it comes time to let go, can they really let it go?
In fact, my heart is ruminating in all kinds of ways, and I cannot be quiet for a day.
Why is it that when I really want to be quiet, I can't be quiet in my heart? Wang Anshi sighed.
The pine waves were like a tide. Wang Anshi raised his head and patted the stopped donkey. The emperor once gave Wang Anshi a horse to travel after he became an official. Unfortunately, the horse died of illness not long ago, so Wang Anshi had to use a donkey instead.
He would rather ride a donkey than ride a horse.
Some people joke that donkeys are more stubborn than horses, just like Wang Anshi.
Wang Anshi arrived at Dingli Temple.
There was a monk named Juehai who was a guest in Dingli Temple, and he met Wang Anshi at first sight.
After the two sat down, they began to talk about Zen and poetry, both of which were filled with witty remarks.
Wang Anshi said: "I collected a sentence and came up with the phrase 'Jiangzhou Sima's green shirt is wet'. I wanted to answer it in a complete sentence, but I have always been puzzled by its explanation."
"One day I asked a young man why he said, 'How about 'the disciples of Liyuan have white hair and new hair'?"
Juehai was overjoyed when he heard this and said, "What a good sentence and poem."
Jiangzhou Sima Lei's Green Shirt is from Pipa Xing, Liyuan Disciple Bai Faxin is from Song of Everlasting Sorrow, both were written by Bai Juyi, so they are called wonderful pairs.
Wang Anshi refused to take time off, so he wrote a collection of poems.
The so-called collection of sentences is to take a line from the poems of one or more people and recompose them into a new poem.
After Wang Anshi retired, he studied this intensively. His collection of poems even surpassed the original poems, and formed a first-class style among the scholar-bureaucrats in the south of the Yangtze River.
Wang Anshi is indeed very talented. After he became an official, he occasionally did it, which can be said to be popular for a while!
Wang Anshi said: "That day when I saw the white crane roaring, I had a poem for the master."
"The sound of the white crane is pitiful, but the sound of the red crane is abominable.
The white crane is extremely quiet, while the red crane is noisy.
The white crane cannot be attracted, and the red crane cannot be waved away.
The long pine died of filth because of the red crane.
A Taoist from Beishan said, "Beautiful people are beautiful in themselves. Why should I be happy about it?"
The evil do themselves evil, why should I be angry?
If I go away my ears, why should I chase after them?
If it comes from my ears, why should I reject it?
Why don't I get tired of the noise and seek silence? Why do I prefer elixirs to plain food?
You said that if the pine tree dies, I will have no support, so I will abandon the shade and sit on the dew."
After hearing this, Juehai asked: "Who are the white crane and the red crane in Xianggong's poem? Are they Zhang Sanxiangong and Zhang Zihou?"
Wang Anshi laughed and said: "Even you think so. In fact, the white crane is the master and the red crane is Xingxiang. I use this metaphor and it has nothing to do with government affairs."
Juehai was relieved after hearing this. Xingxiang was another monk who was arguing with him.
Jue Hai said: "This poor monk is worrying too much. There are too many speculations in the world. Nowadays, everyone in the world is talking about the two of them. Even an outsider like me can't help but be curious."
Wang Anshi didn't say much but said: "Both of them are ministers, so I can't comment too much now. Although I retired to Zhongshan, many people in the world are far-fetched and think that using poetry as a metaphor for political affairs is really troublesome and unfree."
"
Juehai said: "It's the poor monk's fault."
Wang Anshi said: "There is no mistake. The master is a true outsider. He is not immune to speculation by the world, let alone the world."
"Actually, my heart is not at peace, so I can't say much, let alone speculate about others. I don't know if I can ever let it go one day in this life."
Jue Hai sighed: "My husband is not concerned about fame and fortune, but the people in the world."
"Since your husband is afraid of writing and searching for labor, and his mood is not right, why not sit in meditation and get rid of the problem."
"Zan Zen is never a bad thing. I wanted to write "Eighteen Pats of Hujia" for the remaining few years, but failed to do it, so I just sat in the middle of the night."
Wang Anshi smiled and said: "I never sit in meditation. Peace of mind can only be obtained by walking or lying down."
Juehai said: "My husband is broad-minded. He really regards fame and wealth as if he lost his hair, and he is as indifferent as Toutuo. The poor monk admires him!"
…
In the Yanhe Hall.
Zhang Yue looked at Cai Bian and Wang Anli. Yes, Wang Anshi's words were true.
After Zhang Yue became Prime Minister, he wrote to Wang Anshi almost every once in a while. There were hundreds of letters exchanged. Wang Anshi learned the lesson from his last letter to Shen Jichang and never showed Zhang Yue's letters to others.
But Zhang Yue is different.
Zhang Yue often told Wang Anshi in letters about political affairs and principles, just like chatting.
Zhang Yue also praised Wang Anshi for saying that he "followed Confucius and Mencius in his articles and surpassed Yi Gao in his career." Zhang Yue knew that Wang Anshi was highly praised, so most of his letters contained such words.
In front of Wang Anli and Cai Bian, Zhang Yue did not shy away from the story of Wang Anshi's "dog licking".
Of course this is not true.
Zhang Yue did worship Wang Anshi back then, and he worshiped him so much. Liang Qichao commented that Wang Anshi was the most perfect person in the third generation, which had a great influence on Zhang Yue.
However, when Zhang Yue was in Xining during the political reform, he realized that the new law did have some drawbacks. As an official in charge, he inevitably had many objections to the new law.
??????????.??????
This went from worshiping Wang Anshi to criticizing and questioning Wang Anshi.
But after Wang Anshi resigned as prime minister, he reached Wang Anshi's position. Zhang Yue once again paid attention to Wang Anshi's reforms, such as the "one morality" that he had been criticizing before and various policies in the New Deal.
It was found that Wang Anshi had some last resort difficulties, and even Zhang Yue himself continued to implement some of Wang Anshi's ideas and the many conveniences brought by the reform.
So Zhang Yue turned to accept it again.
People say that Yang Wei is Yang Sanbian, and Zhang Yue also became "Zhang Sanbian" from unknown time on.
So Zhang Yue also praised Wang Anshi in his letter.
Of course, the most important thing is whether Wang Anshi agrees with Zhang Yue's changes to the new law?
The answer is that Wang Anshi barely let go.
After Wang Anshi took office, he was indeed not as stubborn as when he was in power. But Zhang Yue really couldn't do it if he asked him to support him.
But Zhang Yue thought of another way. He discussed more in the letter, often making insinuations, and tried hard to praise and list facts.
As a dignified prime minister, he flattered a retiring prime minister in such a low profile, which somewhat benefited the other party.
Therefore, Wang Anshi did soften his tone towards Zhang Yue in his letters.
Of course, among the hundreds of letters, there are not many of them that soften the tone, just a few.
However, Zhang Yue collected all these letters that softened the tone, and then took these letters out of context and read them to Cai Bian and Wang Anli.
This allowed the two of them to come to the conclusion at Yanhe Hall.
Just in line with that classic saying.
Take it out of context.
——Excerpt from "Don't Take Quotes Out of Context".
Zhang Yue estimated that Wang Anshi would scold people if he knew that he had quoted his letter out of context. However, Zhang Yue did not lie.
It’s true that the letter was written by you, Wang Anshi, yourself. I didn’t change a single word of these words.
As a dignified prime minister, credibility is still very important. Zhang Yue cannot lie to others. He just lives up to the saying, 'Don't tell any lies, tell no truth'.
Wang Anli, who was originally opposed to the reform, believed it after reading the letter.
As for Cai Bian, he didn't say a word.
Zhang Yue guessed that Cai Bian was very careful and might have doubts about these letters. He only needed to send a letter back to Wang Anshi to ask.
However, Cai Bian did not express his position.
Zhang Yue did not force him to choose sides between Wang Anshi and himself. In the history of another time and space, Cai Bian was extremely loyal to Wang Anshi and followed his father-in-law's ideas unquestioningly throughout his life.
But today, Cai Bian followed him and Wang Anli clearly and dealt a fatal blow to Zhang Dun.
After Wang Anshi, the new party tended to be in disarray.
Among them, Lu Huiqing, Zhang Dun, Li Chengzhi, and Zhang Shangying were of the same lineage, while the others like Deng Wan, Lu Jiawen, and Zhang Hong were all attacked and released by Zhang Yue.
Shen Kuo and Zeng Bu, two twenty-five-year-old men, had already taken refuge with Zhang Yue.
The remaining Cai Que, Xue Xiang, An Tao, Pu Zongmeng, and Cai Bian did not form a joint force, but stood on their own sides or joined the emperor's party.
Not counting the party members Zhang Yue has cultivated over the years, coupled with the support of Cai Bian and Wang Anli, the blow Zhang Dun suffered is indeed visible to the naked eye.
…
In the Yanhe Hall, the victory has been decided.
Many people had a premonition that the weather was going to change in the Yuanfeng Year.
Zhang Yue calmly walked down the hall and slowly left the Yanhe Hall, surrounded by cheers and crowds. From a distance, he saw Zhang Dun waiting for him in front of the hall with a livid face.
Zhang Yue thought to himself, you are really unyielding.
It is impossible for Zhang Yue to scold people in person now. How could a prime minister get so angry that he would roll up his sleeves and scold people in person?
Zhang Yue walked up to Zhang Dun and said to him: "Prime Minister, when it comes to the world's troubles, there are three things that are most worrying. I won't be happy if I don't complain."
Zhang Yue said: "Please speak!"
Zhang Dun said: "First, no matter what happens in the world, there is no distinction between black and white."
Zhang Yue thought to himself, okay, you are scolding me and Xini.
"Secondly, loyal people become more humble, while useless people become more arrogant and arrogant."
Zhang Yue thought to himself, are you accusing me of rejecting dissidents and not distinguishing between loyal and traitors?
"Third, look for reasons for everything, and acquiesce in all bad things. No one will do anything for the world. Since the prime minister came to power, he has sought the middle way in everything, but if you blindly seek the middle, how can you get it?"
“If you don’t have great strength to break down barriers, how can you achieve success?”
"In the end, it's just a patchwork, to no avail! Sooner or later, the whole world will be ruined. I am so disappointed in the Prime Minister! This will lead to a sinner in the Zhang family."
Zhang Yue was furious when he heard this. Zhang Dun had this ability. He could completely ignite people's anger with just a few words.
Others didn't dare to say anything when they heard this. This was a family matter involving Zhang Yue.
Zhang Yue said: "Zhang Nei Zhi, since I became an official, I have regarded everything in the world as my teacher. Any criticism is my teacher, not my enemy."
"I'm sorry for what you said. But you are just you, and it is not your turn to say these words to the world."
"ha!"
Zhang Dun smiled, took off the black gauze hat on his head and said: "I'll wait and see. If it turns out that I was wrong in the future, I will call you brother instead!"
After Zhang Dun finished speaking, he threw his crown and left!
