2- Hollywood script

Anderson picked up the file bag on the coffee table and opened the button under Wayne's expectant gaze. He took out the two documents nailed inside, one thick stack on top and one thin page below.

"Happy Day of worship?"

Anderson mumbled quietly and opened the thick script and quickly flipped through it. After a rough look, Anderson nodded with satisfaction. The script was completely written in Hollywood standard writing format.

Similarly, as the foundation of a play, professional script writing can make every process of film production flow like flowing flow. The investors are moved, the producers are worry-free, the directors are comfortable, and the actors are careful. So what kind of script can be considered a truly professional script writing format?

Just like the one in the hands of Professor Anderson now, the standard is divided into six major parts.

1. Scene description and character actions. This sentence usually appears under the scene title. It is used to describe the scene as necessary and explain the actor's behavior in progress.

2. The name of the character is the name of the character. If it is a supporting role, you can write "Kidnapper A", "Robber B", etc.

3. Dialogue, the lines spoken by the characters, including voiceover, monologue, and narration, are all lines. Write them clearly.

4. Auxiliary description, voiceover and overseas voice should be marked behind the character's name, while other instructions should be marked below the character's name, which can briefly describe the character's actions or state. For example, "cough", "crying", "excited".

5. Transition method, that is, the way of switching between pictures. What we often say is fading in, fading out, transforming in, and fusion, are all transition methods. They are marked out when necessary, and generally they can be written without writing.

6. Scene title, INT is equivalent to the "inside" in Chinese script, representing the interior scene, and the Hollywood format is "inside/outside scene-place-time".

In Hollywood script writing, the scene title cannot be written, such as the first scene and the second scene. Because the director decides the shooting order of each scene.

The above constitutes the Hollywood standard script format. Of course, commercial scripts with high costs and high productions are basically above this standard, and they are much more refined, such as the so-called three-paragraph narrative circulating on the Internet in later generations.

Professor Anderson began to read the script carefully for the second time. Seeing the absurd setting of the protagonist being killed every day, he couldn't help but smile. After reading it for half of it, he found that some parts of the script did not conform to ordinary logic at all, and it was even a bit irritating.

But using Hollywood classic routines, this story can be justified. Anderson knew that some places should not be serious, and the appeal of this script lies in these exquisite designs, which is obviously a black horror comedy with some cult attributes.

"Your script is interesting. If it is filmed completely according to the script, it will be very attractive to a considerable number of people, especially teenagers."

Anderson put down the script in surprise, which was completely beyond the level of a graduation short story. At least from the script, it was very professional, and it seemed that this child had a very sufficient knowledge reserve.

"Teacher, you know, I have been studying this kind of black attribute movie since my freshman year. Although I have made several short experimental movies before, they are not recognized by classmates and professors.

Almost all professors except you do not agree with my style. They feel that this movie style with obvious black attributes, absurd settings, bloody scenes, and dark side of the human heart is too niche, so I wrote this script with less obvious style."

It’s not that Wayne just wanted to make such a noir movie. He was a movie projectionist in his previous life. He watched many movies of various types, but did not leave much impression. He was crazy about this noir movie in the last stage of his life. He watched a large number of this type of movies, no matter how good it was.

His biggest advantage is the movie scenes he saw in his previous life. But he has been a fan of movies noir later, and his mind is full of these attributes, so he has studied this type of movie.

"There is nothing wrong with strong personal style, but the movie is ultimately popular entertainment. You have to know the balance in it yourself. You can see that the script you need is completely beyond the scope of graduation films, but there are many difficulties in making it."

Anderson filmed the script, thinking about the difficulty of shooting, and picked up the thin document below.

"Okay, I have to admit that you are even better than I thought. You actually made a detailed project plan. If you add a complete project plan, it can be regarded as a complete commercial project with clear selling points."

"Teacher, although it is almost impossible for a company to invest in a new independent film like me, I still hope to make a plan. I will never dare to underestimate the difficulty of making a feature film, so I hope to make everything in advance."

Some dreamers who come to Hollywood always feel that they have a good script and will have investments in film companies. The reality is that film companies will not read the script you get, and they will read your plan first.

If you don’t have a project plan and you are a newcomer and want to be a director, you might as well go and be fucked. There are countless scripts invested in film companies every day, and the individual scripts bought by the film companies are probably not one ten thousand.

Even if you buy it, you don’t know when it will be made into a film. Ninety-nine percent will be thrown into the script library to eat dust. Why do you give you millions of dollars by taking a look at the script that has no prospects?

Even after years of systematic study, sometimes Wayne would fantasize that someone would like his script, and then write a large check with a big pen, which was enough for him to spend the filming.

This is basically fantasy and nonsense. If you want to shoot a movie, the key is to submit a business project plan to potential investors and film companies, a plan to prepare, cast, shoot and produce a film, with meticulous ideas and rigorous investigation.

"Wayne, with these, I can try to help you get some investment. I have seen many old directors running around for the funds for their first feature films. Most of them actually need such a complete project plan."

Professor Anderson looked through a few thin pages of the plan, which considered all the problems of the movie in detail, and even the difficulties that may be encountered in the shooting and solutions.

Although the investment is not high, this is still a sky-high price for newcomers. Newcomers who have not achieved any results, let alone film companies, even private investors will not take a look. Anderson hopes to help him find some movie funds to support newcomers to try it out.

"Teacher, I have a way to raise funds. The plan I made is to prepare according to the funds I can raise. I may not take too many classes, and the time is tight. I want to make sure I will shoot him before graduation."

"Okay, your credits are enough to graduate in the last school year. What you need is to start and participate in the production of the movie yourself. Do it well. If you can create the effect of the script, I believe this will have an absolute advantage for you to find a job in the future."

Anderson looked at the young man in front of him. The reason why he was called withdrawn, indifferent and unsociable by his classmates was because he spent all his time studying. This is a smart child who knew what he wanted and worked tirelessly for it.

Wayne drank all the coffee in his cup, packed up the script, stood up and said goodbye to the professor.

"Teacher, I even made an appointment with an agent and left first."

"Go, if you need any help, you can call me."

Professor Anderson patted him on the shoulder.

He left the teacher's office and came to the cafe next to the school. After asking for a cup of coffee, he looked at the pedestrians outside the window and was waiting for his agent.

Although he has lived in the Greater Los Angeles area for 20 years since he was born in 1970, he still cannot forget the real experience on the other side of the Pacific, just like yesterday.

When he was young, he accidentally watched a movie called Paradise Cinema. He went to learn to be a movie projectionist. What interrupted his more than ten years of screening career was illness. He was negative on the hospital bed and began to fall in love with black movies again. Until he fell asleep, he was still immersed in movies every day.

God is fair. He took away his sick life and gave him a good life in this life. After the age of five, he went to a farm in Ventura County to live. Although his father was not a rich man, his family was not short of money, so he gave him a good learning environment.

Wayne was not ignorant in this life. He knew very well what he wanted and kept working hard for it. The family environment also gave him enough convenience. Since elementary school, he went to private schools.

From childhood to youth, his mother took him frequently to and from the crew of his former friends to visit, allowing him to carefully observe the world's film factory. Learning to become a director is actually a huge process.

Starting from college, I bought related books and expensive films and rented equipment to shoot my own experimental short films. Most families really couldn't afford these expenses.

"Hi, Wayne. Is there anything wrong with me? Oh my God, if you didn't call me, I'd almost forgotten you, the film director. The waiter, give me a latte."

A young man who was a few years older than Wayne pulled a chair and sat opposite him. He was dressed neatly in a suit, making him look positive.

"Jimmy, I'm going to graduate and start my first feature film soon. After a while, I need you to help me start recruiting work, crew members, and a few actors."

He looked at his agent. Jimmy came to him when he was in his junior year, a novice agent who had just left the caa mailroom. He heard that a genius director in Southern California had a major in film and video. He found him with a genius director and hoped to act on his agency contract.

"What type of film? Or are you the bloody experimental short films you used to shoot?"
