It is certainly a good thing to have new equipment to look forward to in the future.
But at the moment, Malashenko still hopes to understand what is right in front of him as soon as possible: this new TOS-1 that is more powerful than the TOS-1 currently used by the leadership division.
"So, what kind of adjustments have you made? Could it be that you just changed the body and chassis? I know this is not your style."
Although Shashmulin pursues perfection more in terms of excellence, this does not mean that Kotin is careless in this aspect.
Malashenko, who was already quite familiar with Kotin, estimated that the big iron guy in front of him must have a lot of modifications, but it was not easy to see on the surface. Malashenko guessed the key points.
Ke Jing then smiled and said.
"It's better for you to understand. I haven't said anything yet, and you can already guess the general situation."
"Indeed, I made many detailed modifications that I thought were necessary, based on the actual combat feedback reports sent back by your division from the front line."
"Do you still remember that you encountered the problem of overheating of the launcher caused by multiple consecutive launches before? Continuously launching a large number of rockets in a short period of time will cause the launcher to overheat. Although it is not so hot that it will detonate the loaded ammunition, it is really important for the loading process.
It’s very troublesome, after all, the locking and fixing and the alignment and alignment of the launch position still need to be done manually.”
"So I made some improvements. Since the launcher is overheated, why don't we just leave it alone? There is no need to touch the launcher when loading, just remove the entire launch box."
"The new launch box and launch frame are still separable, and the original modular loading of the launch frame from the launch box is still feasible. It's just that a new function has been added. Now you can hoist and unload the entire launch box from the vehicle.
Once you get down, you no longer need to touch the hot launcher. When changing ammunition, you can directly replace the entire launcher box, provided that you have a field lifting vehicle with good performance."
"This may be a big problem for other troops, but I believe it is definitely not for your leadership division."
"I am really impressed by your division's independent modification capabilities. It's hard to imagine that you modified a batch of heavy-duty cranes using IS2 chassis under field conditions. Although it may sound like a waste of equipment, just take it as a joke.
But we must admit that that kind of modification is indeed very effective, especially for field maintenance of heavy equipment, which has doubled the efficiency."
Malashenko finally understood what Kotin meant.
To put it simply, the new "official release version" TOS-1 uses a further modular design and is more detachable than the "pre-sale version" currently in Malashenko's hands.
When changing and reloading the thing that Malashenko is holding now, he has to pull the entire launcher out of the launch box, but that's the problem.
After multiple consecutive launches in a short period of time, the TOS-1 launcher will become extremely hot. Touching it directly is basically the same as putting your hand into the furnace. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the attack, the soldiers have no choice but to wear artillery pieces.
Use special heat-insulating gloves to forcefully unlock the rigid connection between the launcher and the box.
It’s just that the heat-insulating gloves are not easy to use. The launcher is continuously sprayed by the rocket engine tail flame, and the temperature of the launcher is even higher than the temperature of the continuously fired gun breech. Previously, some soldiers were dismantling the high-temperature launcher.
It was so painful that the contact surface of the entire arm through the clothes was instantly hot and smoking. Seeing that large piece of flesh was very dangerous.
After learning about this situation, Malashenko mentioned this incident in his feedback and wanted to see if Kogin had any solution.
Unexpectedly, Ke Jin's solution was simple, violent, and very direct.
Is the launcher hot?
Isn’t it enough to reload without reloading next to the launcher? Just remove the entire launch box, and you don’t have to align the launcher with the launch box and have to hold the aim with your hands. Not to mention having to use your hands to hang it all the way.
Hold it and load it in. The original two-time loading work of two separate launchers can be reduced to one-time completion of replacement and loading of the entire launch box. It indeed shortens the loading process, which is equivalent to increasing combat efficiency.
The idea is good, but there are some necessary conditions for actual operation.
It is necessary to have the support of heavy-duty mobile field lifting equipment to complete the disassembly and reinstallation of the launch box, which has certain armor protection and is not light in weight. It is not much heavier than the turret of a heavy tank.
In other words, an ordinary small crane with a wheeled truck chassis simply cannot lift something so big and heavy.
This is like a construction site in the 21st century. You drive a 10-ton crane to lift a 20-ton concrete prefabricated part. It must be able to lift it without overturning your crane on the spot.
This means that the official version of TOS-1 is not a single piece of equipment, but a system of equipment. It is the firepower combat part of the entire equipment system, nothing more.
Only TOS-1 is not enough for the entire equipment system to operate and exert its due combat effectiveness. It must be supported by supporting logistical support equipment, that is, a heavy-duty mobile vehicle that is heavy enough and has large-tonnage lifting capabilities.
Lifting equipment.
This kind of high-standard, systematic thing is really not found in ordinary Red Army field troops.
But the leader is different. Kogin has long known that Malashenko has a batch of excessively luxurious crawler-type heavy-lifting vehicles modified with IS2 chassis.
According to Malashenko's original design concept, this thing was used to lift heavyweight components such as tank turrets and engines for field maintenance.
But in the equipment system conceived by Ke Jing, this thing can do something else. Since it can easily replace the launcher of the "pre-sale version" TOS-1, then hoist the entire launch box of the "official release version" TOS-1.
Theoretically, it is possible. After all, Malashenko had previously mentioned that the faulty TOS-1 launch box had been removed by an IS2 heavy-duty crane for repairs.
Now the purpose of "maintenance" has been replaced by "loading ammunition", and the entire operation process remains unchanged. As long as Malashenko has extra spares and has preloaded the ammunition launch box, then this
Under this operation process, whether it is the problem of overheating of the launcher or the problem of shortening the loading time, it can be well solved.
This is the most direct improvement based on Malashenko's actual combat feedback. It corresponds to "what the frontline troops need and what they feel is not good, the rear military industry team will start to make targeted improvements." It is not a bunch of armchair designers.
I just made some random drawings on the drawings, and then I went into the production workshop with these fantastic drawings and hammered away and it was done.
