0021 Buddhism and Taoism Response

In fact, it was not that Buddhism and Taoism did not respond to Zixiao Temple, but that Chen Jingke overestimated the speed of news transmission in this world.

In an era without the Internet, telephones, telegraphs, cars, or newspapers, you can imagine how slow the transmission of messages was.

Different styles in three miles and different customs in ten miles are not just casual remarks.

It would be nearly a month later when the specific situation of Zixiao Temple became known.

Buddhism, as Taoism's biggest competitor, was the first to respond.

After hearing about this incident, Daoxin, the fourth ancestor of Zen Buddhism who was meditating in Zhengjue Temple, praised: "Zhenren Sun is really a master of Taoism. I wish I could discuss the Dharma with him."

Hongren said: "In this case, Master, why don't you go to Chang'an for a while."

Daoxin shook his head and said, "If I go now, I won't be meeting friends to discuss the Dharma."

Hongren thought for a moment and understood what he meant. As the leader of the Zen sect, he would have been regarded as a troublemaker at this time.

Regardless of whether he means it or not, others will think so, and many people will even add fuel to the fire.

"I'm afraid that some people won't be willing to be lonely and bring trouble to me."

Dao Xin said: "Sage, my wife is a believer in Buddhism. Even if she gets the wrath of thunder, she will only fall on the false Buddha and not the real Buddha. Don't worry about this."

When Daoxuan, the founder of Luzong heard about this incident, he said bluntly: "Don't say that I don't have this intention. Even if I had the intention, I would not come to Beijing at this time. Sun Zhenzhen's cure of the empress's stubborn illness is in the spotlight. It is not brave to go now, but it is really foolish."

"

His disciple Faxiu said with some reluctance: "Are we just watching Taoism come to the limelight? The saint respects Taoism because he considers Lao Tzu as his ancestor. Previously, he had the intention of praising my Buddhism because of the stubborn illness of the empress and the prince."

"Now that Master Sun has cured my mother's stubborn illness, I'm afraid that the saint will lose his fear and suppress me, the Buddha."

Tao Xuan said: "It's wrong, it's wrong, it's hugely wrong."

Faxiu said respectfully: "Master, please give me some advice."

Tao Xuan said: "We argue with Taoism, but the east wind prevails over the west wind, and the west wind overpowers the east wind."

"In the past hundred years, Buddhism suppressed Taoism, and now it is Taoism's turn to suppress us. Master Sun just accidentally pushed the wheel again, that's all."

"As for the suppression of Buddhism that you mentioned, it may happen. However, if His Majesty really has this intention, wouldn't it be just Buddhism that is suppressed?"

"The meaning of Buddhism has been deeply rooted in people's hearts and cannot be cut off. What the saint wants is peace in the world, and he will not risk the world's injustice to destroy the Buddha. Therefore, your worries are like worrying about the sky in vain, and it is really unnecessary."

Faxiu suddenly understood and said, "Thank you, Master, for your teaching. I understand now."

Daoxuan said again: "But Zhenren Sun's method is different from ordinary people, and Taoism may have another sect. For the long term, we need to know more about this. You can send someone to the capital to inquire about the situation."

"Remember, you are just inquiring about the situation, don't act recklessly."

Faxiu said respectfully: "Disciple understands, please rest assured, Master."

In addition, eminent monks such as Zhiyan of Niutou Sect, Zhiwei of Tiantai Sect, Huiyuan of Sanlun Sect, etc. also heard about this one after another, and they all unanimously adopted the method of waiting and watching.

The Taoist side's reaction was overjoyed.

Cheng Xuanying, who is cultivating Taoism in the capital, said excitedly: "The last obstacle to the great development of Taoism has been removed. Master Sun's merits are immeasurable."

Li Chunfeng also said with deep understanding: "What Master Xihua said is true, but I don't know what you think of Zixiao Temple?"

When this matter was brought up, Cheng Xuanying calmed down and said: "I have never heard Master Sun teach the Dharma, nor have I seen his masterpieces, so I dare not make any rash comments."

"On the other hand, you, as the court steward, have access to the palace. You should have had the opportunity to meet Sun Zhenzhen, so you didn't go to seek advice?"

Li Chunfeng shook his head and said: "The saint has sealed off the Sanqing Temple on the grounds that the real person is practicing spiritual enlightenment and enlightening Taoism. Except for the empress and the children of the legitimate emperor, no one else can approach it."

There was one thing he didn't say, and that was about Chen Jingke.

Although the emperor issued a hush-hush order, with so many people seeing it, it was inevitable that some rumors would spread, but most people thought that the emperor was deliberately spreading false news.

Li Chunfeng was different. He had a deep friendship with many of the imperial doctors in the imperial hospital. Although those imperial doctors kept secrets, the more they did, the more he realized that things were not simple.

What role Chen Xiaozhen played in this matter is worthy of scrutiny.

As for age, that doesn't matter at all. Including him, Li Chunfeng, there are too many people who are known as child prodigies.

I can read at the age of three, memorize the Thousand-Character Classic at the age of five, read the Tao Te Ching at the age of seven, and be able to discuss Taoism with my seniors at the age of ten.

Since there are prodigies like him in the world, it is not surprising that there will be another prodigy who is even better than him.

He applied to visit Sun Simiao several times to find out what was going on, but was rejected by Li Shimin. This not only did not dispel his doubts, but made him even more suspicious.

However, he knew that some things should not be said nonsense, so he just kept this guess in his heart and did not tell anyone.

Pan Shizheng of the Maoshan School was also very happy, and he thought more deeply:

"We must make every effort to promote the sacrifice of God Haotian at Zixiao Temple. If we can take this opportunity to include the sacrifices of Sanqing into the national sacrifices, our Taoism will be able to maintain its eternal prosperity."

The most excited ones are the disciples of Louguan Taoism. They are one of the few Taoist sects that pays attention to the debate between Huayi and Huayi, and they are the most hostile to Buddhism.

There is even a saying that "the host is good and the guest is bad", and "the guest's return will benefit the country, but the host's presence will not harm China. If you don't chase those who leave, there is no need to send them away if you stay here to protect yourself."

However, after the attack by Emperor Wu of Zhou, both Buddhism and Taoism were severely weakened. After the reconstruction, Louguan Taoism no longer cared as much about the differences between Huayi and Huayi as before.

But they are still the Taoist sect most hostile to Buddhism, and this has never changed.

Sun Simiao cured the queen's stubborn illness, and the news that the emperor built Zixiao Temple reached Zongshenguan. Tian Shiwen, the contemporary head of Louguan Taoism, shouted excitedly:

"The master is good and the guest is bad. The master is good and the guest is bad. In this case, our Taoism finally takes the lead, and the day of Taoism's great prosperity has arrived."

As for Zixiaoguan's visit to Haotian God, he did not say a word.

Almost all other Taoist sects have a similar attitude. They vigorously promoted that Sun Simiao cured the queen's chronic illness and was praised as a saint, but ignored Zixiao Temple.

Chen Jingke has not been idle these days. While studying the Tao Te Ching with Sun Simiao, he is also thinking of ways to change Journey to the West. At the same time, he has to accept harassment from Li Tai and Princess Chengyang from time to time.

The compilation of Journey to the West was not as smooth as expected. His brain is not a computer hard drive. He only remembers the general story and cannot remember every word.

There is naturally a big gap between his literary talent and that of the original author of this book. At least he couldn't write the poems and verses in the original work.

What's more, Journey to the West was originally a Buddhist story, but now it's even more troublesome to change it to a Taoist story. It took a month to write the Liusha River section.

Another point is that without computers and hard pens, writing depends entirely on the speed of the brush. It is not easy to write so much in a month.

Of course, it would be much faster to give the oral version to Princess Chengyang. I have already talked about the section of the Flame Mountain.

In addition, he also has a job to do, which is to learn medical skills from Sun Simiao and study the treatment of asthma.

In the process, he finally told Sun Simiao everything he knew about medical treatment without any reservation.
