Chapter 4 Victory in the first battle

The German troops that attacked the town of Khimki belonged to the 258th Infantry Division Reconnaissance Battalion. They were all veterans with rich combat experience. They suffered an unexpected blow without any precautions. Five or six soldiers were beaten on the spot.

Death. After a brief panic, the remaining soldiers returned to normal. Several machine guns fired at the Soviet positions to suppress the opponent's firepower. At the same time, soldiers holding submachine guns crouched and took advantage of the snowdrifts on the roadside.

Cover, carefully but decisively approach the Soviet position.

The bullets flew freely, causing the mud and snow to splash on the edge of the trench. Lin Hua hugged the rifle and huddled in the trench. Listening to the sound of bullets whizzing past his head, his whole body shook like chaff. But it was okay.

The soldiers were too preoccupied with themselves at the moment, and no one noticed his miserable appearance.

When Lin Hua shot and killed a German soldier, he thought that the battle would be nothing more than this, but he did not expect that after that shot, there would be no more achievements. On the contrary, the firepower of the German soldiers was extremely fierce, with three or four machine guns and a dozen submachine guns.

They opened fire at the same time, so that the soldiers in the trenches did not dare to come forward. As soon as one soldier came forward, before he had time to shoot, he was shot in the head in several places, and fell into the trench on his back without even making a cry.

Lin Hua looked up at the window on the second floor. He hoped that the machine guns of the Sidorin brothers could suppress the German firepower. But he knew in his heart that this was just a wishful thinking. From the moment the Germans fought back, they had a dedicated machine gun.

The Sidorin brothers were suppressed so that they could not shoot from the window at all.

A German soldier rushed to a place only twenty meters away from the trench, hid behind a snowdrift, and threw a grenade, trying to kill all the Soviet soldiers in the trench. However, because he used too much force, the grenade flew past

The trench exploded in the open space behind the trench. The air wave raised the soil on the ground high and scattered it into the trench.

Slightly hot soil fell on Lin Hua's body, making him think hard about his situation. Hiding in the trench was just a temporary measure. Once the Germans rushed up, he would either be shot to death randomly or be killed by a grenade.

It's better to give it a try than sit back and wait to die.

Seryosha next to Lin Hua was a veteran with rich combat experience. He relied on his feelings and listened to the sound of the incoming bullets passing around to judge the location of the German army. He caught the moment when the bullets extended and slightly

He leaned up and took a shot based on his feeling. Regardless of whether he hit or not, he immediately retracted and lay down.

Lin Hua saw that Seryozha was fighting very methodically, so he leaned out and pulled the trigger towards the figure shaking in front of the trench. After firing a shot, he didn't even care to see whether it hit or not, and hurriedly

He retracted his body, squatted in the trench, pulled the bolt of the gun, pushed out the cartridge case, took two deep breaths, leaned forward and fired again.

A German soldier who had just rushed out from behind a snowdrift was accidentally hit by a bullet fired by Lin Hua. He stumbled suddenly as if he had been tripped by something, and paused for a moment, his body

Then he fell down softly.

Another German soldier, seeing his comrade lying in a pool of blood, quickly took out a grenade and blew it up to kill all the Soviet soldiers in the trench. Unexpectedly, he had just pulled the string and had not had time to throw it out.

Christopher leaned out and fired a burst with the submachine gun in his hand. The German soldier covered his chest and fell down with pain on his face. The grenade fell at his feet and exploded with a bang, killing him.

The explosion caused blood and flesh to fly everywhere.

Although the German army had an advantage in terms of numbers and weapons, it was not easy to quickly occupy the position in the face of the difficult Soviet army in front of them. Seeing this situation, the German commander was particularly anxious.

, originally wanted to take advantage of the Soviet army's unpreparedness and rush into the town of Khimki, but unexpectedly there was a Soviet army ambushing in advance on their only way. If the battle lasts too long, wait until the Soviet reinforcements arrive

, it will not be so easy for them to escape.

Even though the German army was unable to advance, Lin Hua and the others fought extremely hard. The Sidorin brothers on the second floor had already died, and among the seven people in the trench, only Lin Hua, Seryosha and Christopher were left.

You can imagine how difficult it would be for an individual to fend off a dozen enemies armed to the teeth with two rifles and a submachine gun.

After Seryosha fired another shot outside the trench, when he squatted down to reload, he said to Lin Hua anxiously: "Misha, there are only three of us, but there are more than a dozen Germans. How can we stop them?"

Impossible. Do you think it’s time for us to retreat?”

"We can't retreat!" Lin Hua unequivocally rejected Seryosha's proposal: "As soon as we retreat, the Germans will rush into the town. You should know that there is no preparation in the town at all. Once the enemy lets

Once we gain a foothold, enemies from far and wide will enter the town and use this place as a starting point to attack Red Square and the Kremlin. We must not let this happen. Do you understand?"

Hearing Lin Hua's words, Seryosha let out a long sigh, then leaned out and fired a shot outside, then retracted his body and said to Lin Hua: "Misha, I understand. The Germans

If you want to rush into the town, you can only walk over our bodies, and this is our burial place."

Lin Hua just nodded, but before he could speak, Christopher next to him suddenly whispered: "No, I have no bullets."

Seryozha also smiled bitterly and said: "I only have one clip of bullets left."

"Collect ammunition from those who sacrificed their comrades." Lin Hua knew that he didn't have much ammunition, so he hurriedly said to the two of them: "We must delay the enemy as long as possible so that the people in the town can have time to prepare."

After another seven or eight minutes, Lin Hua and the three of them ran out of bullets, and the shooting in the trenches stopped. Seeing that there was suddenly no movement on the Soviet position, the shrewd German commander immediately realized that the Soviets had no bullets, and hurriedly

He shouted to his men: "The Russians have no bullets, load them all!"

Seryosha, who was squatting in the trench, saw those who were walking towards the trench with their rifle butts pressed against their waists. He slowly installed the bayonet on his rifle, turned to Lin Hua and said with a smile:

"Misha, although we have run out of bullets, we can still fight with the Germans with bayonets, and we must not live as prisoners!"

While Lin Hua was installing the bayonet, Christopher also threw away the submachine gun without bullets in his hand and picked up the rifle left by a fallen comrade. After installing the bayonet, he turned to Lin Hua and said: "Comrade Corporal

, it looks like we are all going to die here today."

At this point in the battle, the fear in Lin Hua's heart had long since dissipated. He held the rifle with the bayonet in his hand, stood up straight, faced the German soldiers who were surrounding him, and said with great pride: "Even if we die, we can't."

I need to use more cushions."

Seryosha and Christopher also stood up straight, stared at the Germans in front, and said loudly: "Yes, even if we are going to die, we have to pull up a few cushions."

However, the bayonet fight scene that Lin Hua imagined did not happen. A burst of intense gunfire suddenly sounded behind them, and several German soldiers who were only a few steps away from them fell to the ground one after another.

"What's going on?" Lin Hua turned his head and looked in surprise. He saw a group of militiamen wearing casual clothes and holding weapons in their hands, shouting: "Ula!" pouring out from around the building towards those who stayed there.

The German soldiers in front of the trench rushed forward. The one who rushed at the front was the police lieutenant. He held a Deggarev machine gun in his hand and was shooting at the German soldiers.

Seeing groups of militiamen pouring out of the town, the German soldiers dared not stop. They turned around and ran towards the place where the motorcycles were parked, trying to get on the car and escape. However, the militiamen were willing to let them go and followed them closely.

The police lieutenant jumped into the trench, slapped Lin Hua hard on the shoulder, and said approvingly: "Well done, Misha, are you all okay? That's amazing!" After that, he climbed out of the trench again,

He led the militiamen and continued to chase forward.
