Chapter 13 Sanssouci Palace

Sanssouci Palace is located in the northern suburbs of Potsdam, Germany. On January 13, 1745, Emperor Frederick the Great ordered the construction of the palace in Potsdam. According to the order of Frederick the Great, the architect of the palace was Georg Wincheslaus von Knoll.

Bursdorf was built in imitation of the Palace of Versailles in France.

The name of the palace is taken from the French word "Worry-free" or "Mochou". The entire palace and gardens cover an area of 90 hectares. Because it was built on a hill, it is also called the "Palace on the Dunes". The middle part of the main hall of the palace has a hemispherical dome.

The two wings are long conical ridge buildings. In the center of the palace is the rotunda. The magnificent Prime Minister's Hall, with imaginative decoration on the ceiling and gold-inlaid walls, is dazzling.

The interior is decorated with murals and mirrors, which is brilliant and brilliant. There are 6 parallel bow-shaped steps in front of the palace, and the sides and surroundings are set off by green jungle. There is a fountain in front of the palace, facing the porch of the main hall. This fountain is made of round petals stone carvings, surrounded by

There are four round flower beds of "fire", "water", "earth" and "air". There are statues of gods in the flower beds, especially the statues of Venus and Mercury, which are exquisite in shape and vivid in image.

It is said that there are more than 1,000 stone sculptures with themes from Greek mythology in the entire palace. On the east side of the palace, there is also a gallery that collects 124 famous paintings. Most of these paintings are masterpieces by Italian and Dutch painters during the Renaissance. The gallery is spacious and bright, and every time

During festivals, concerts are held here. There is a hexagonal pavilion in the garden, which uses traditional Chinese green tiles, golden columns, umbrella-shaped roof, and floor-to-ceiling column structure. It is called the "Chinese Tea Pavilion". The tables and chairs in the pavilion are completely imitated from the Oriental style.

It is made in the same style, with a Chinese-style incense tripod standing in front of the pavilion. Sanssouci Palace is the essence of German architectural art in the 18th century. The entire construction project lasted for 50 years. Despite the war, it was not bombarded by artillery fire and is still well preserved.

.

Today, our little William is about to enter the largest palace in Prussia, which is also the administrative center of Prussia.

Little William followed the carriage into Sanssouci Palace and was struck by the flash of the palace in front of him. When the carriage stopped in front of the palace, Little William was led down by Baron Buell. The guards at the door lined up in two rows. And his

His mother, Queen Louise, led many nobles to stand in the middle.

"Meet Your Highness." Everyone except Princess Louise lowered their heads and saluted.

"Mother, I'm back." Little William ran to Louise's arms regardless of others, and Louise hugged him tightly and said:

"My poor little William, you are finally back." As she said this, Louise burst into tears.

"Mother, there's no need to cry. I'm back and I won't leave again. Thank you all for taking the time to come to greet me. William is deeply sorry." After William comforted Louise, he saluted everyone.

"It is our honor to welcome His Royal Highness," everyone said after hearing William's thanks.

"Your Highness the Princess, Your Highness the Prince, gentlemen, let's go in, His Majesty the King is still waiting in the hall," Buel reminded on the side.

After everyone heard Buell's words, they walked towards the hall surrounded by William and his son.

A throne is placed in the center of the hall. An old man is sitting on the throne, and beside him stands a middle-aged man. Needless to say, this old man is Frederick the Great, and the middle-aged man is Frederick the Great.

·His Royal Highness Crown Prince Wilhelm II.

The emperor is sixty-five years old, has half a hundred hair, is as thin as a stick, has many wrinkles on his face like an old man in his seventies or eighties, and his back is already hunched. But the emperor's eyes are bright and lively, and he looks like a wolf.

Gu's eyes are still bright. After anyone is seen by the emperor's eyes, they will feel as if the most private part of their heart has been seen by others, which makes people shudder. Now only the emperor's eyes can make you feel that this is

That famous hero in Europe, Frederick the Great.

"Her Royal Highness Princess Louise, Her Royal Highness Prince William is here," the attendant at the door said loudly, while many nobles in the hall except the emperor and the crown prince stood on both sides with their heads lowered and saluted.

Princess Louise took William's hand and slowly walked to the steps of the throne to salute.

"See His Majesty the King"

"My little William, come to me quickly and show me," Frederick the Great said after hearing their respectful greetings.

Little William heard Frederick the Great's call and walked up the steps step by step. His eyes looked directly at Frederick. Not only was Frederick not angry, but he greeted him very happily:

"A good boy, he has the spirit of a man from our Hohenzollern family." Then he glanced at Crown Prince Frederick William II who was standing next to him and said:

"Little William, I have met your father"

"See His Royal Highness the Crown Prince," William said honestly, and Frederick William II frowned after hearing little William's greetings:

"Get up." After saying this, he ignored little William.

Seeing this situation, Frederick was very dissatisfied. The emperor stood up from his seat, took William's hand and said loudly to everyone at the foot of the steps:

"Friedrich Wilhelm III, my grandson, my Prince of Brandenburg"

Everyone in the hall exclaimed when they heard Frederick's voice.

Prince of Brandenburg is not a simple title. You must know that Brandenburg is the capital of Prussia, and there was a Prince of Brandenburg before Little William, that is, Prince Friedrich of Brandenburg - that is

The later King of Prussia, Frederick William I, was the father of Frederick the Great - the famous soldier king.

After seeing some commotion among the people in the hall because of his words, Frederick the Great roared dissatisfied:

"Quiet, my grandson, little William, will be taught by me personally." After ignoring the exclamations and comments from everyone again, Frederick the Great pulled little William out. And little William's father, the Crown Prince, heard Frederick the Great's words.

After giving the order, his face turned livid.

Looking at Frederick the Great holding his hand, little William couldn't help but sigh with emotion:

This heroic ruler put all his energy into developing national strength and reorganizing the army. Frederick lived a clean and simple life and often went to the military camp to share the joys and sorrows with the soldiers. Even ignoring his actions as a politician and his contribution to legislation

His contribution in military performance alone is enough for him to occupy a place in history. In the works of Western military historians, Frederick the Great is recognized as the same as Alexander the Great, Caesar the Great, Hannibal,

Gustavus II, a military great as famous as Napoleon.

"Little William, Duke Bern of Bavaria is dead." While little William was still sighing, Frederick the Great stopped and said calmly.

"Your Majesty, does it seem that we are going to have another war with Austria?" After hearing what he said, little William asked.

"It seems inevitable. I heard that Maria Theresa and her son Joseph II often had different opinions on state governance. Ministers from the two groups often clashed. I hope this time it can be resolved before she reacts.

After taking care of Bavaria, I want Prince Henry to inherit Bavaria, what do you think?" Frederick said and asked little William.
